Starting again this Fall 2025, ODD will be hosting morning dance classes!

Some details:

• Classes take place in Studio B at ODD which is in Arts Court (2 Daly Avenue) on the 2nd floor.

• Classes are $12 and can be paid at the end of class in person by cash or card.

About the class:

This is a contemporary class to warm and tune the body. It invites participants to pay attention to sensation, and thread weight, direction and energy with ease. Through a series of short sequences that move along the floor to standing, through space and back again, we give into momentum and swing while seeing (and being with) all the people in the room. Long sleeves, pants and socks recommended. Come with your curiosity!

About Heidi:

Heidi Strauss is a dance artist curious in examining human behavior from different perspectives. Responding to the current social and environmental moment, she explores relationships to consider the ‘realness’ of where and who we are, here and now – how we are affected by the world around us. In playing with how performance is seen/experienced, she looks to deepen connection with others while making space for self-reflection; she creates post-immersive, installation, ambulatory, and site-sensitive works for theatre, non-theatre and digital environments. A KM Hunter and multi-Dora Award winning choreographer, she is the artistic director of Toronto-based adelheid, and currently, the artistic lead of Dance Arts. Strauss has been commissioned by/choreographed for Toronto Dance Theatre, Mocean Dance, The Frankfurt Opera, The Canadian Opera Company, Volcano Theatre, the Stratford Festival, among others. Her teaching practice has been developed through opportunities to share classes and workshops across Canada and internationally. She holds an MFA in Creative Practice from Transart/Liverpool John Moore’s University.
